Welcome to C J Royle Opticians, an independent practice which has served the local community since 1965.

Chris Royle, one of the founding partners, retired in 2007 and the practice continues to thrive under the ownership of Sue Cutts and Delia Cliffe.

Sue Cutts qualified as an optometrist in 1980 after graduating from Bradford University in 1979. She joined the practice in 1986. She also teaches part-time at the Optometry Department at UMIST and is secretary for South Staffordshire Optical Society.

Delia Cliffe qualified as an optometrist in 1982 after graduating from City University London and joined the practice in 1986 and became a partner in 1999. She has a broad range of experience, both in optical practice and hospital eye clinics.

The dispensing opticians advise on frame and lens choice and are also responsible for frame purchasing and quality control in the practice.

All our fully qualified optometrists have many years experience and are registered with the General Optical Council and the College of Optometrists. We are accredited optometrists with the North Staffordshire diabetic screening service and the Direct Access Cataract Referral Scheme.

When you make an appointment for your eye examination you will know which of the fully qualified optometrists (ophthalmic opticians) will be looking after you. If you need spectacles you will be given a further explanation of the different options available by our fully qualified dispensing opticians.
